New England 250 is Historic New England’s initiative to mark the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution through inclusive, place-based exploration. Centered at our historic sites and anchored by the exhibition Myth and Memory: Stories of the American Revolution, we look at how the Revolution shaped—and was shaped by—the everyday lives of people in the region: farmers, tradespeople, servants, enslaved individuals, merchants, and families. By focusing on everyday life and local histories, we explore how power, opportunity, and resistance played out in our region. The Revolution was not a single story, and its legacies are still unfolding. Through this work, we ask what that history means today, and how it continues to shape the world around us.
